Jokes & Cigarettes

Eugenio (David Verdaguer) is a young jeweler in late-sixties Barcelona who has fallen for Conchita (Carolina Yuste), a singer, and he picks up the guitar so he can play beside her on stage. First he has to get past a stage fright that grips him every time an audience looks his way. David Trueba follows the two of them through the clubs of that world, where a joke told badly can sink a night and told well can make a living.
