Josep
Josep Bartoli (Sergi López) is a Catalan cartoonist who fought against Franco and wants only to keep drawing after he crosses into France in February 1939. The French government has penned the Spanish refugees into camps, where they build their own shelters, eat the horses that carried them out, and die by the hundred. Aurel draws it in spare, rough lines, and the barbed wire cuts across the page between Josep and a guard (Gérard Hernandez).
