“Believe the impossible. Discover the incredible.”

Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) is a teenager who picks up a coded distress call that points to a mythical island, and the signal turns out to come from his long-lost grandfather, Alexander (Michael Caine). Sean's stepfather Hank (Dwayne Johnson) climbs into a tour helicopter with him to go and find the old man. Brad Peyton sets the two of them side by side for the whole trip, a wary kid and the stepdad who keeps showing up anyway.
