Joy (Jennifer Lawrence) is a single mother on Long Island who wants a better life than the one she's holding together, in a house where her father Rudy (Robert De Niro), her grandmother Mimi (Diane Ladd) and her ex-husband Tony (Edgar Ramírez) all crowd the same roof.
