Jubal

“THE SOMETIMES VIOLENT STORY OF A DRIFTIN' COWHAND!”

Jubal Troop (Glenn Ford) is a cowboy who wants nothing but a place to work and be left alone, and he is found weak and horseless when Shep Horgan (Ernest Borgnine) takes him in. Delmer Daves sets him on Horgan's large ranch, where the foreman Pinky (Rod Steiger) decides at once that Jubal smells of sheep. Horgan trusts the newcomer more with each week, and that trust is what ties the three men together.
