Jubilee

“Sex, drugs and punk rock. Add violence and time travel and you have Jubilee.”

Queen Elizabeth I (Jenny Runacre) is lifted out of her own century and set down in late 1970s England, where nothing she finds looks like the country she ruled. Derek Jarman follows her through a landscape of gangs, squats and burned-out streets, with Amyl Nitrite (Pamela Rooke), Mad (Toyah Willcox) and Crabs (Nell Campbell) filling it. Underneath the noise, the film is about a nation celebrating its crown while the place around it falls apart.
