Raj Verma (Anil Kapoor) and Kaajal (Sridevi) are a married couple in a 1990s Hindi family drama, living on little money while she wants a bigger life than the one they have. Then wealthy Jhanhvi Sahni (Urmila Matondkar) enters their lives, and Kaajal talks her husband into marrying a second time. Raj Kanwar ends on the household that choice leaves behind, with Kaajal's mother (Farida Jalal) still at the edge of the frame.
