Jude

“A time without pity. A society without mercy. A love without equal.”

Jude Fawley (Christopher Eccleston) is a stonemason in late nineteenth-century England who wants a university education his working-class birth keeps out of reach. After his marriage to Arabella (Rachel Griffiths) falls apart, he moves to the city and takes up with his cousin Sue Bridehead (Kate Winslet), who is already married. Michael Winterbottom keeps the two of them at the center, a pair who understand each other better than anyone else does.
