Judex
In 1963 France, a banker named Favraux is marked for revenge by Judex (Channing Pollock), a cloaked adventurer who sets a long chain of schemes in motion. Georges Franju remakes Louis Feuillade's silent serial of the same name and keeps its pulp plot, its disguises and its rival schemers, among them Diana Monti (Francine Bergé), who is working her own angle. In Franju's version, Jacqueline (Édith Scob) stands in the frame like a figure in a stage set.
