Judge Priest

(1934)Directed by John Ford80 minComedy, Drama, Romance
“Enough laughs to make your head spin!”

Judge Priest (Will Rogers), a Confederate veteran and the local judge in a small Kentucky town, settles the neighbors' troubles from his porch and the bench, with common sense and a joke ready. John Ford sets the story in the years after Reconstruction, when old loyalties still pull at everyone. Jerome (Tom Brown) is the judge's nephew, a young lawyer just home and a little in love with Ellie May (Anita Louise), and the old man watches over him gently.
