Jules and Jim

(1962)Directed by François Truffaut106 minDrama, Romance
“A Hymn to Life and Love”

Jules (Oskar Werner), a shy Austrian writer living in Paris, becomes close friends with Jim (Henri Serre), a Frenchman who talks easily and laughs often. Both men fall for Catherine (Jeanne Moreau), who is impulsive and beautiful and set on living by her own rules. Truffaut follows the three of them from before the First World War to after it, and the friendship has to carry more than a friendship can.
