Julia
“The story of two women whose friendship suddenly became a matter of life and death.”
Lillian Hellman (Jane Fonda) is a playwright in the years before the Second World War, writing against her own doubts, and the one person she trusts completely is her oldest friend, Julia (Vanessa Redgrave). When Julia, who has been fighting the Nazis in Europe, asks her to carry funds into Germany, Hellman agrees. Fred Zinnemann puts the whole film on the risk to both women, because if the mission is found out, it costs them everything.
