Giulietta (Giulietta Masina) is a middle-aged wife in 1960s Italy, and her husband Giorgio (Mario Pisu) has started acting strangely. When he hosts a seance for his friends, she hears spirits speak about her own painful past. Federico Fellini follows her to a mystic who points toward the truth about Giorgio, and what Giulietta stands to lose is the marriage she has built her life around.
