Jungle Emperor Leo
“A king’s journey to protect his kingdom and family.”
The 1997 film takes up the last half of Osamu Tezuka's manga Jungle Taitei, set in the African jungle where the lion Leo (Masane Tsukayama) rules over the animals. With his mate Lyre (Chieko Baisho) and his children Rune (Tomoko Ishimura) and Lukio, Leo holds to the belief that all life is equal. Yoshio Takeuchi directs a story in which that belief is tested, and Leo's own life is what it may cost him.
