Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) is tricked onto a rescue mission to Isla Sorna, a dinosaur-filled island, only to discover that a divorced couple, Paul (William H. Macy) and Amanda Kirby (Téa Leoni), hired him under false pretenses to find their missing son. The group must navigate the island's terrain and avoid its predators while searching for the boy, Eric (Trevor Morgan), who has survived alone.
