In a small Western town in 1920, Bim (Buck Jones) is the one everybody agrees is a loser. Then he takes in Bill (George Stone), a needy boy of thirteen, and the schoolteacher Mary (Helen Ferguson), whom Bim secretly adores, gets the kid into her classroom. John Ford, billed as Jack Ford, sets up a quiet triangle where Bim, Bill and Mary start leaning on each other.
