Thibault (Jean Reno), a 12th-century knight, wants only to set right the damage a witch has done to his life. He and his valet Andre (Christian Clavier) go to a wizard for help, and the spell sends them forward to the year 2000. Jean-Marie Poiré drops the pair into Chicago, where Thibault meets his descendant and has to find another wizard before his chance to get home runs out.
