“One's still a little smarter than the other”

Detective Mike Dooley (Jim Belushi) has worked the streets of Los Angeles with his German Shepherd, Jerry Lee, for ten years. Now Jerry is getting old, and Captain Byers (James Handy) keeps bringing up retirement, then pairs Dooley with Sergeant Welles (Christine Tucci) and her disciplined Doberman, Zeus. Charles T. Kanganis sends the two mismatched teams out on a case together, with Dooley's partner and his badge both on the line.
