Taylor Brooks (Michael Biehn) is a lawyer and climber who has built his life around mountains, and he joins a U.S. expedition to K2, the world's second highest peak. Franc Roddam sends Brooks and his friend Harold Jameson (Matt Craven) up a mountain that has already killed 27 people. The climb sets what a person owes the summit against what he owes the friend roped beside him.
