Kaagaz Ke Phool

Suresh Sinha (Guru Dutt), a celebrated film director, tells his own story in flashback, starting from his meeting with Shanti (Waheeda Rehman), a young woman who hopes to become an actress. Guru Dutt directs this one himself, drawing on the film industry he worked in. The title says the idea outright: flowers made of paper can look real, but all the happiness on show is fake.
