Govardhan Menon (Mohanlal), a doctor, is arrested for a train bombing he says he had no part in, and no one can tell him who really set it. In 1915 the British send him to Cellular Jail in the Andaman Islands, where Priyadarshan stations him among hundreds of Indian prisoners. Mirza Khan (Amrish Puri) runs the jail, and every day inside brings Govardhan closer to never leaving it.
