“Life or death... on the turn of a card!”

Kaiji Ito (Tatsuya Fujiwara) drifts through his twenties on cheap booze, small-time gambling and the occasional keyed car, with no job and no plan. A debt collector named Endo (Yuki Amami) turns up at his door with two options: ten years of repayments, or one night on a gambling boat. Tōya Satō sends him aboard knowing only that the night could clear his debt, and Kaiji has to decide whether anyone offering him a way out can be trusted.
