Karlsson on the Roof

A humming comes from outside the window of a Stockholm apartment, and Svante (Lars Söderdahl), the youngest in his family, whom everyone calls Lillebror, is the only one who goes to look. It turns out to be Karlsson (Mats Wikström), a round little man in the prime of his life, with a propeller on his back and a house on the roof. Olle Hellbom, adapting Astrid Lindgren's book, films the flying and the rooftop house plainly, as if they belonged to the ordinary city.
