Keep Your Right Up

(1987)Directed by Jean-Luc Godard82 minComedy, Drama, Fantasy

Godard plays a filmmaker who is fussy to the point of torment, a man who will not stop until he has the finest performance out of every actor in front of him. The film is built from short sketches, with Jane Birkin and Dominique Lavanant each taking several real and invented roles, rock music running underneath. Godard wrote, directed and stars, and he lets the scenes stack up unevenly, as if he were still working out what each one wanted.
