“Something's not quite kosher”

Nobody on the block can say why a thirteen-year-old's Bar Mitzvah has turned into a contest, but Benjamin Fiedler (Daryl Sabara) is stuck at the center of it. His parents, Adam (Jeremy Piven) and Joanne (Jami Gertz), are determined to outdo the party the Steins just threw. Scott Marshall brings three generations of the family together for the planning, and the film treats the party as a stand-in for what a family actually owes the kid being celebrated.
