General Yuriy Klenskiy (Yuriy Tsurilo) is a military doctor in Moscow in 1953, a heavy, loud man used to being obeyed, until the doctors' plot campaign makes him a suspect. Aleksei German fills the frame with crowded rooms and shouting, and the scenes start to run into one another. Klenskiy's wife (Nina Ruslanova) stays beside a man who is being taken from her.
