The American Civil War is on, and a Confederate prisoner named Clyde McKay (Chuck Connors) has his eye on a box of gold held inside a Union prison camp. Enzo G. Castellari sends him in with a crew of convicts and one guard who agrees to help. McKay and Captain Lynch (Frank Wolff) circle each other throughout, two men bound by the gold and the bargain, with no reason to trust either.
