King David

“The story of the man.”

David (Richard Gere) is a young shepherd who wants to give his people a kingdom of their own, and the prophet Samuel (Denis Quilley) has already marked him out as Israel's next king. That puts him at the court of King Saul (Edward Woodward), who has no intention of giving up his crown. Bruce Beresford follows David from the fields into palace life, where every step toward the throne puts the lives of those he loves at risk.
