“A NEW ERA in sound and color entertainment!”
Paul Whiteman wants to bring jazz to the screen the way his orchestra played it in the 1920s, with Joe Venuti, Eddie Lang, Bix Beiderbecke and Frank Trumbauer in the ranks. John Murray Anderson strings together songs, sketches and staged tableaux, sung by John Boles and Jeanette Loff, in early two-color Technicolor. There is no plot to follow, only a showcase for what big-band music and a Hollywood budget could do together in 1930.
