King of New York

“Not everyone who runs a city is elected.”

Frank White (Christopher Walken) walks out of prison and wants his city back, along with the money to give away to the poor neighborhoods he came from. To get there he has to clear out the rival dealers, and he has his crew, led by Jimmy Jump (Laurence Fishburne), to do it. Abel Ferrara shoots New York at night in slick, cold light, and Walken moves through it like a man who has already decided.
