King of the Gypsies

“They have their own language... Their own codes of sex, honor and vengeance... And their own way of choosing a king.”

In 1970s New York, the Romani clan of King Zharko Stepanowicz (Sterling Hayden) lives close and loud, with Queen Rachel (Shelley Winters) beside him. As his strength fades, the old man names his unwilling grandson Dave (Eric Roberts) as the next king, passing over his own son Groffo (Judd Hirsch). Frank Pierson sets the family against itself, and Dave has to decide whether to take a crown his father wants.
