“Don't kill this killer! Bring him back alive!”

Dr. Carole Nelson (Kay Francis) wants her name cleared before the Medical Board takes her license, because someone has tied her to the gangster Joe Gurney (Humphrey Bogart). Then Gurney turns up wounded and asks her to treat him, which hands her the chance she needs. Lewis Seiler keeps the film moving at a hard clip, and Carole spends it with a patient who could ruin her.
