King Ralph

(1991)Directed by David S. Ward97 min · PGComedy
“A comedy of majestic proportions.”

An electrical accident wipes out the British royal family, and the only heir left is Ralph (John Goodman), a fired American lounge singer. Willingham (Peter O'Toole) and Graves (John Hurt) are assigned to turn him into a king, and David S. Ward puts a loud, rumpled Ralph in the middle of the palace's stiff routines. The film's idea is a plain one: a crown is no use to a man who only knows how to be himself.
