In Changi prison, after Singapore falls to the Japanese in 1942, the men all look half-starved except one American. Corporal King (George Segal) has traded and schemed his way into a decent life behind the wire, and Peter Marlowe (James Fox), an upper-class British officer, can't stop watching him.
