King Solomon's Mines

Kathy O'Brien (Anna Lee) wants her missing father found, and the only man who might know the way into unexplored Africa is the hunter Allan Quartermain (Cedric Hardwicke). He agrees to lead her, with Umbopa (Paul Robeson), an enigmatic guide, walking beside them. Robert Stevenson's adaptation follows Haggard's 1885 novel closely, and its last image is of Umbopa, the guide whose purpose stays his own.
