Kings of the Road

In 1976, along the western side of the East-German border, Bruno Winter (Rüdiger Vogler) drives a repair truck from one worn-out movie theater to the next, fixing projectors. Robert Lander (Hanns Zischler), a doctor fresh from a break-up and a half-hearted suicide attempt, hitches a ride and stays in the cab. Wim Wenders puts two men with little to say to each other on the same road, and each mile risks leaving them as alone as before.
