“How far would you go to save the family business?”

Charlie Price (Joel Edgerton) never meant to run the family shoe factory in Northampton, but when his father dies he is the one left holding it, and the business is failing. One chance meeting with Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a drag queen who sings in a cabaret, gives him a plan to make custom boots for performers like her. Julian Jarrold builds the film on how a nervous factory owner and a flamboyant stranger slowly come to depend on each other.
