“You can't fight a gun with a rosary.”

Mila Carandang (Charo Santos) wants only to marry Noel (Jay Ilagan) and leave her parents' house. Her father, Sgt. Diosdado Carandang (Vic Silayan), a retired policeman, will not let her out of his sight, and he runs the household as his own post. Mike de Leon, working from Nick Joaquin's account of a real crime, builds the film around what happens when a man cannot stand to lose what he thinks he owns.
