Kiss of Death

(1947)Directed by Henry Hathaway99 minCrime, Thriller
“From her lips there is no escape!”

In 1947 New York, Nick Bianco (Victor Mature) is a thief serving time for a jewelry heist, and his wife has died while he sits in prison. Assistant D.A. Louis D'Angelo (Brian Donlevy) offers him a way out if he gives up his accomplices, with Richard Widmark's Tommy Udo, in his first film role, among the men he would be naming. Henry Hathaway makes the stakes plain: Nick's daughters, his new wife Nettie (Coleen Gray), and his chance at an honest life.
