Kissing a Fool

“May the best man win.”

Max Abbitt (David Schwimmer), a television sportscaster with a high opinion of himself, wants to know that his fiancée Samantha (Mili Avital) will stay faithful once they marry. So he asks his best friend, the novelist Jay Murphy (Jason Lee), to see if she can be tempted. Doug Ellin tells it in flashback, and the question under the joke is how much one friendship can bear when it rests on a test.
