Knight of Cups

“A quest.”

Rick (Christian Bale), a screenwriter in Los Angeles, drifts from one party to the next, through Hollywood excess and on to Las Vegas, while his ex-wife Nancy (Cate Blanchett) and his married lover Elizabeth (Natalie Portman) pass through his days. Terrence Malick follows him with little plot. Rick is successful and still empty, and each new encounter might bring him closer to a place in the world or leave him lost in the glare.
