Marcus Ray (Jean-Claude Van Damme) runs a Hong Kong jeans business that sells designer labels, and his partner Tommy Hendricks (Rob Schneider) is a CIA agent working under that cover. The knockoff trade and the 1997 handover of the city to China pull them into a plot to smuggle explosives inside counterfeit denim. Tsui Hark cuts the chase in fast, crowded bursts, and under it sits the plain question of who is real and who is only wearing the label.
