Kramer vs. Kramer

“There are three sides to this love story.”

Ted Kramer (Dustin Hoffman) comes home from work one evening to find his wife Joanna (Meryl Streep) packing a bag, and by morning he is alone with their young son Billy (Justin Henry), a kitchen he cannot work, and a job that still wants all of him. Ted has always put the office first, and now he has to learn the boy's routines from scratch. Robert Benton, adapting Avery Corman's novel, keeps the camera close and plain, so the household reads like a real one.
