The ward is a psychiatric sanatorium run by Dr. Khurana (Om Puri), where Anand (Salman Khan) arrives after accidentally killing his fiancee. Dr. Tanvi Khurana (Kareena Kapoor Khan), the administrator's daughter and one of the doctors treating him, begins to fall for a patient her father will not accept. Priyadarshan, remaking his own 1986 Malayalam film, leaves Anand sitting among the other patients while Tanvi watches him from across the room.
