“Everything is suspect... Everyone is for sale... And nothing is what it seems.”

A shotgun massacre at an all-night diner leaves the Los Angeles police of 1953 with a body count and no explanation. Three detectives take different routes into it: Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey), Wendell "Bud" White (Russell Crowe) and Ed Exley (Guy Pearce), each with his own way of working. Curtis Hanson's film shows a department where the badge and the bribe sit in the same pocket.
