La Cérémonie

“France's Alfred Hitchcock Returns...”

Sophie Bonhomme (Sandrine Bonnaire) wants nothing more than to keep her job as a maid for the well-off Lelièvre family in the French countryside, and to keep quiet about whatever she is hiding. Then she befriends Jeanne (Isabelle Huppert), the postmistress, who tells her to stop swallowing the family's orders. Claude Chabrol sets the two women against a household of money and ease, and the friendship begins to turn dark.
