La Cocina

“Get back to work.”

Pedro (Raúl Briones) is an undocumented cook in a Times Square restaurant, working the sweltering back kitchen and hoping a romance with the waitress Julia (Rooney Mara) might lead somewhere better. Then money goes missing, and suspicion moves down the line from one cook to the next. Alonso Ruizpalacios shows a workplace where people are paid to be fast and invisible, and where fear of the boss decides who gets blamed.
