La Haine

(1995)Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz98 minDrama
“How far you fall doesn't matter, it's how you land…”

Vinz (Vincent Cassel), Hubert (Hubert Koundé) and Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui) are three friends from a poor immigrant suburb of Paris, and they have a day with nothing to do but wait. A night of rioting has left one of their friends badly hurt after a confrontation with the police, and no one can tell them if he will live. Mathieu Kassovitz shot it in black and white and follows them hour by hour, which won him the Best Director prize at Cannes in 1995.
