La Notte

Milan, 1961, one day running into one night. Giovanni Pontano (Marcello Mastroianni), a novelist, and his wife Lidia (Jeanne Moreau) move through the city and through the company of other people, and the marriage between them is already worn thin. Antonioni follows them from place to place, and Lidia keeps walking, looking at a husband she no longer knows how to reach.
