“Journey of a Woman”

Badki (Rani Mukerji) and her younger sister Chutki (Konkona Sen Sharma) spend their days in Banaras playing pranks, sneaking off to a forbidden mujra and watching the crowds on the ghats of the Ganga. Their father Shivshankar (Anupam Kher) and mother Shabitri (Jaya Bachchan) are sinking into debt, so Badki leaves for Mumbai to earn a living for the family. Pradeep Sarkar's film is about what an eldest daughter gives up so the household can stay whole.
